Four musical themes from the soundtrack of Yannis Economides’ new film “Broken Vein”, composed by Babis Papadopoulos, have been released

On Thursday, November 27, 2025, Yannis Economides’ new film “Broken Vein” began screening in theaters.
The film’s music was composed by Babis Papadopoulos, and four of the musical themes were released on the digital EP “Music from Broken Vein.”

The film’s full soundtrack will be released in early 2026 in physical format (CD & LP).
“Broken Vein” won the Best Original Music Award at the Mostra de València 2025 Film Festival in Valencia.

Babis Papadopoulos has also collaborated with Yannis Economides in the past, composing the music for the film “The Little Fish” (2014), the director’s theatrical production “Stella, Go to Sleep” (2017), and adapting the musical theme of Karagiozis (“The Rock of Karagiozis”) for his film “The Ballad of the Broken Heart” (2020).

For “Broken Vein,” Babis Papadopoulos moves between atmospheric ambient and industrial, creating a soundscape that perfectly accompanies the film’s scenes in a parallel narrative that hints without explaining.
In an interview with CNN Greece, he states:
“I did not follow the traditional formula for film music. That is, a central theme, a motif, which is developed and orchestrated according to the needs of the scenes and runs throughout the film. After the first scene, where the central theme is heard, a musical narrative begins that runs parallel to the film, supporting and coloring the points that were defined as serving it. This is quite difficult in this particular film due to the peculiarity of the cinematography and the theme of the film.”

In early 2026, the entire soundtrack of the film will be released on vinyl, CD, and digitally.

Movie summary: Thomas Alexopoulos, a middle-aged businessman, has made mistakes and his carelessness has overwhelmed him. When his dispute with a loan shark takes an unpredictable turn and time is running out to save his precious family home, he is driven to extremes. When all hope seems lost, he comes up with one last – simple but risky – plan, which may be his only chance to restore what he has lost and emerge victorious.
