Yiorgos Pantazopoulos – Some Things I’ve Never Told You

2025.12.05: The debut album by double bassist and composer Yiorgos Pantazopoulos, “Some Things I’ve Never Told You,” has been released. The first live presentation of the album will take place at the Half Note Jazz Club (Athens, Greece) on January 21, 2026.

Yiorgos Pantazopoulos is one of the most active musicians of the younger generation of the Greek jazz scene, participating in various jazz projects alongside great musicians such as George Kontrafouris, Dimos Dimitriadis, Dimitris Angelakis, Yiannis Papadopoulos, Gilad Atzmon, Amos Hoffman, and others. He has also collaborated on projects with renowned Greek artists such as Penny Baltatzi, Spyros Grammenos, and Mc Yinka. He is a member of the Sunny Side Trio.
The album “Some Things I’ve Never Told You” is his debut album as a leader. It includes eight tracks performed with an enchanting combination of energy and subtlety by a brilliant trio of musicians from the younger generation of the Greek jazz scene. Alexandros Lykothanasis (piano), Panagiotis Themas (drums), and Yiorgos Pantazopoulos (double bass) give their best and deliver a mature and substantial album, which has the freshness and enthusiasm of a debut and is capable of reaching a wider audience beyond jazz circles.
The opening track, “Coffee Break,” sets the tone and establishes the initial atmosphere. From this starting point onwards, the jazz piano trio unfolds its dynamics, melodiousness, and technique, creating a different atmosphere and texture in each of the pieces that follow. Five compositions by Yiorgos Pantazopoulos and three imaginative covers are the stops on this journey. The covers are the jazz standard “Confessin’,” “Nature Boy” (the song by Eden Ahbez made famous by Nat King Cole, which takes on a different texture here as it is performed as a solo double bass piece), and Irving Berlin’s classic “Puttin’ On The Ritz,” which brings the album to a unique close.

The album is available on Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple/i-Tunes, Deezer, and many other streaming platforms, and will be released on CD on January 21, 2026. On the same day, the first LIVE Presentation will take place at the Half Note Jazz Club (Athens, Greece). More detailed information about this first live performance will be announced in due course.

Yiorgos himself says about “Some Things I’ve Never Told You”: The music on this album was written during a particularly transitional period in my life. Many things were changing, but the music was always there—a constant reminder that it would always be by my side. This album is dedicated to my family and to all the people I met in Corfu, friends, brothers, and human relationships that will accompany me forever.

Yiorgos Pantazopoulos was born in Athens and graduated from the Jazz Department of the Ionian University, specializing in jazz double bass. (Undergraduate and Master’s program).
He took his first steps in music at a very young age with classical guitar lessons. In 2017, he began his studies at the Jazz Department of the Ionian University. During his studies, he devoted himself to jazz music and explored the role of the double bass in small and large ensembles. He studied with an Erasmus scholarship at Codarts University in Rotterdam (2021).
Since 2017, he has been working as a professional musician in large concert venues, festivals (Corfu Jazz Festival, Tinos Jazz Festival), and clubs both in Greece and abroad.
